The Certificate III in Steelfixing (CPC31120) teaches you the skills to take on one of the most essential roles in the construction industry. You’ll learn how to read and interpret plans, prepare and place steel reinforcement for concrete structures, and use a range of tools and equipment safely and efficiently. Training is hands-on and focused on real-world applications, so you can build confidence in your abilities from day one. Whether you’re starting a new trade career or formalising your on-site experience, this course sets you up for success in roles across building, infrastructure and civil construction projects

You’ll learn how to:

Course Delivery and Assessment

The Certificate III in Steelfixing is a flexible, blended delivery course designed to fit around your work and lifestyle. The theory component of the course is delivered online, and you will also need to attend face-to-face training sessions to learn hands-on, practical skills. Our trainers will demonstrate key techniques and provide personalised feedback and guidance, helping you build both confidence and competence. You have 12 months to complete the course.

Assessment is competency-based, meaning you’ll be evaluated on your ability to perform tasks and apply knowledge in real-world scenarios. This includes:

  • Practical demonstrations of preparing, cutting, bending, and placing steel reinforcement safely and accurately.

  • Observed tasks in simulated or real construction environments, including tying reinforcement, reading and interpreting plans, and following workplace safety procedures.

  • Written or online assessments to confirm your understanding of steelfixing principles, materials, and industry standards.

What You’ll Study

The Certificate III in Steelfixing is a nationally recognised qualification under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). On successful completion, you’ll receive a Statement of Attainment for the following 17 accredited units of competency.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however students will need:

  • Basic computer skills and internet access (for enrolment and online modules)

  • Adequate language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills to complete assessments, and;

  • A valid Unique Student Identifier (USI) - mandatory for all nationally recognised training. If you don't already have a USI, you can apply for one online at www.usi.gov.au or we can apply for one for you.
